    Steel is heavier and can rust. Steel is more durable and resistant to bent feed lips than Aluminium. Aluminum mags can deform and have feed lips bent if dropped much easier. Aluminium will crack when stressed to much. Aluminium is lighter and work very well when not overly abused.

    I also upgrade often but then I feel the next watch will have the same form factor and probably just a faster processor. If so I will be using the Series 4 SS for 2 years. The resale value for SS watches are roughly $150 more than the aluminum watches which is the downside. But I still prefer the SS anytime.

    Apr 30, 2011. #12. I agree that aluminum is much less durable over long periods of time; it is also more easily dinged/dented. Aluminum transfers heat much faster than stainless so you are more prone to hot spots where your food sticks. Also don't expect your coffee/tea to stay hot as long.
